I bought this microphone for online flute lessons. There are two problems with using a single mic and/or a single USB mic for practice: getting just the right amount of gain for speaking AND playing, and distorting the high notes on the flute. Finding the ONE setting that works for both always requires a compromise. I either need to speak VERY loud, or if the gain is high enough, the sound of the flute will clip the mic, so I decided to look for a mic with a gain control on the mic. When I record I use good XLR mics and an audio interface, but I didn't want to have such a complicated training setup. I liked that this mic has a gain control. The knob is on the back but easily accessible, and there's a great display to see the settings: green bars light up on the front when you're adjusting the gain, and on the headphone jack when you're adjusting the volume , There are blue bar lights. I've been using it for 2 weeks and it works very well for me. I can be heard well when I speak or play. I would give 5 stars but the sound is a bit brighter than I would like. I also like that there are 4 models. It's very light, which isn't a problem for me. And it looks great!
