Small speaker hole on the side where the sound falls out. I thought it might be a noise-cancelling mic or mics, but no - you can't hear anything with earbuds, and it's a quick and easy bone conduction test - if it's playing through your bones, earbuds are working. . I have a very good pair of Aeropex Aftershocks and I really like them, but I wanted to toss cheap bone conduction headphones in my bag in case I forget the good ones. That is not an answer. This is a very poor quality headset. If they had inferior bone conduction that would be great - for $20 it's a great buy. But that's not the answer, if you want to delve into bone conduction, that's just crap.
