My Favorite Camera Strap

My Favorite Camera Strap. I take a lot of photos and visit several camera forums. From time to time I hear people complain that their camera and/or lens are "too heavy". Some users are looking for lighter lenses (usually lower quality entry-level lenses) and their image quality suffers when trying to save weight. Glass that causes optical dispersion problems, which requires additional optical elements to correct image quality, and by the time the lens manufacturer has finished producing a top-notch lens, it weighs very little. Deal with it. this is the reality of buying quality glass. BUT. What I really think is that the problem is the factory's extremely uncomfortable neck strap. I suffered from a factory strap for quite a while (no I don't care no one else will notice I'm wearing a Canon or Nikon camera from 100 yards of strap color and logos) before discovering the luxury of having one sling straps. The black Rapid strap attaches to the tripod thread socket and the camera hangs (upside down) from this attachment point. When you want to take a picture, grab the camera and it slides along the shoulder strap at eye level. It is very comfortable. I'm carrying a Canon 5D III body (full frame metal body) with a battery box and my camera lens is 90% 70-200mm f/2.8 IS so the whole thing weighs quite a bit. one piece. But I've found that I can walk around with this camera all day and it's not uncomfortable (the factory neck strap got on my nerves after the first 10 minutes). A little bit. If you're using a tripod (and I do), the strap accepts the tripod bolt socket on the bottom of the camera. This means you need to loosen the black Rapid strap screw and then unscrew the "Quick Release" tripod plate so you can mount the camera on the tripod. But if you have to detach and reattach your camera strap every time you switch from strap to tripod and back again, there's nothing "quick" about a "quick release" system. Luckily, Black Rapid has released a (not cheap) adapter called Arcatech. Swift Clamp (see: http://www.amazon.com/Acratech-Swift-Clamp/dp/B00C4M1D5S) If your tripod uses Arca-Swiss dovetail plates (all mine) you can hold the plate on your cameras. and just jump from one to the other. The Arcatech clip replaces the tripod screw on the strap and allows direct attachment to the quick release plate.
