Review on πŸ”Œ Enhance Your Zune Dock Experience with the Zune Wireless Remote by Jody Kashani

A real owl! suitable for portable speakers and docking stations

If you have a problem with this item or want to buy it, please read the following: you need to buy a docking station (I bought a round one), cable A/V, um from the dock to your stereo, a CR 2032 battery (it's a very common and cheap nickel sized flat battery) and an AC adapter. The remote control comes with a battery, but most of them are dead when you receive the remote control due to being on the shelf for too long. You can use any of these items that may have come with the Zune. Keep in mind that if you don't want to disable what you already have, you'll need additional ones. I bought all of these items and paid more for shipping than genuine Microsoft Zune branded items as I found them all on sale. You MUST connect the power adapter to the base station/docking station for power. You CANNOT power your computer's USB port because the Zune features will not be available when syncing with your computer. You connect the A/V cables to your stereo like you would any other component or to your TV. I found the best result was to crank the volume on my stereo about halfway and use the volume on the Zune remote from there. The remote control works perfectly and at a great distance (across the room!). Of course, you want to make sure there's nothing in front of the dock that can pick up a signal. I found the buttons on the remote very easy to use and very comfortable. The sound quality depends entirely on the quality of the file and the original recording. I can't talk about video because I don't use my Zune for it. The only downsides concerned the initial setup. It took a little research to figure out that you can't use a computer's USB port for power. As a typical man, I didn't read the manual at first. Second, the cable situation was a bit awkward. A/V cables are too short (4.5 feet). Of course, this is only an issue if you want to install the Dock/Zune away from your stereo. ***NOTE*** that you also need to consider how far the USB port can reach a wall outlet or power strip. I had a problem with this, but luckily I already had extension cords that I wasn't using. I was able to keep the dock elevated and close to an outlet with an A/V cable and an extension cord to get to my stereo. Overall, I think it's GREAT to be able to use my Zune AND have the features removed. I have a docking station, an A/V cable (each with a male connector on one end and an RYW connector on the other end), a remote control, a new battery, two USB ports (my daughter lost hers), a Zune -Automobile. Adapter (to play over the radio) and shipping for less than $40. Hope this helps some people.
