Review on Evoluent VerticalMouse Ergonomic Wireless Connection by Kevin Taharka

Incompatible software and very strange default button settings

Quick review: I bought these to replace my vertical anchor mouse. If you want to play any games with it, don't worry. If for some reason you use multiple mice like I do, don't worry. Otherwise it's great. Anything that isn't already an Evoluent mouse will have an adjustment period, which is considered here. Pros: - I like the feel of holding the mouse, it supports my wrist/hand very well - Glides and tracks well on my dark mouse pad - Button layout is good and the ability to customize button functions is great - Pinky support is nice Cons: - Software The software seems to conflict with other mice, causing problems in my niche KVM switching setup with a secondary mouse. What's particularly annoying is that it changes the cursor speed of the other mouse and interferes with that mouse's own dpi switching - left-click input is discarded when a key on the keyboard is held down. This is a major hurdle for any gaming usage, but it doesn't affect performance in any way. If you plan to use it as your only mouse and play games, you should be aware of this issue. The default configuration of the buttons is a little strange, as the typical mouse wheel click is replaced with a copy, and the center of the three main buttons is a middle click. This allows you to right-click your ring finger and means you're forced to use their software to tweak the layout or completely reconfigure to an entirely new control scheme. The default size is quite small for my medium sized hand (3.5 inches wide). 7 cm long). My fingertips are naturally just behind the ends of the keys and don't quite touch the scroll wheel, so I have to bend my middle finger almost perpendicular to the mouse to scroll (see pictures). In general, cursor speed was slow. a little problematic, but once you get a good setting it shouldn't matter much. A simple sizing chart and addressing a lack of input/conflict issues with other mice would make this my favorite mouse by a wide margin.
