I've recently used this brush to remove dirt that was stuck very deep in the mat (my car got stuck in the mud/snow and I thought I might try using mats for traction. It didn't is working). This brush is for heavy duty and after removing the floor mat and spilling water on the sink mat I simply wiped it down a few times and each time removed tons of dirt and grime, old and new. It didn't take much, I just used water to clean it and the brush did the rest.
