Review on 🐒 SZMTA41 Floating Turtle Feeder by Zoo Med Laboratories: Enhancing Searching Efficiency by Ashley Chaney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much of the enrichment of the turtles!

This fish feeder made my red-eared slider's day more exciting. I love watching him "hunt" for his food and he gets so excited when he sees me pulling it out of the cupboard to fill it. This is a good size for his aquarium and the arrangement of the holes allows the pellets to fly out with relative ease. , I would say he pokes/bites him 3 times out of 5. So it's not so easy that they all come out at once, but it's also not so difficult that they don't see a reward. Stuffing the fish can be a bit messy if you're not careful (just based on where the holes are on the sides and bottom of the fish) and for some reason I'm the only person in the house having trouble they remove the bottom panel to fill it. It has a small tab that opens (the plate isn't attached to the main body of the fish, so don't lose it!) but it doesn't open for me, so someone else opens it for me every day. ha ha. Aside from that one disappointment which clearly could just be user error, I love this little feeder and my turtle does too! This allows him to use his turtle-like instincts, which he still has within him, and he seems to enjoy the hunt. Plus, it's a fun way to interact with your pet that isn't owned or held in the traditional sense that most people think of when they think of pets. I leave the feeder in his tank just long enough for him to get all his food. out, maybe in a few minutes, to make it a little shabbier. But then I take it out, wash it and put it away so he has an association between fish and food every time he sees it. Definitely glad I got it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a little addition to their turtle! (For video size reference, my turtle is about 8 inches long.)
