Review on 🌲 Evolv Zender Shoes - Premium Forest Green Men's Footwear by Cyrus Wright

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Comfortable nice shoe with moderate climbing ability

I really like these shoes, they are very comfortable, they look decent enough to wear to work and they are moderately good shoes for trails, climbing and easy climbing class 5). The thin, slightly cushioned outsole offers good response for agility and fine detail handling on rocks and trees. The leather (?) upper is reasonably light and breathable, but has also proven to be quite durable. I chose these shoes for comfort rather than climbing, and the latter definitely suffers. However, they don't look anything like the original Five Tennies (long out of print - remastered versions don't always match the original). Climbing performance, regardless of fit, could be greatly improved if the laces ran lower on the foot, allowing the lacing to fit snugly around the toe and forefoot. Maybe Evolv will introduce that in a new version? They're too soft for good big wall shoes (uncomfortable for riders), but they're not designed for that either (many climbers use climbing shoes as an assistant). 7/10 folds, 4/10 edges and 8/10 spots. They make decent shoes for city biking (platform or toe clips) or relaxed mountain biking. All in all great shoes with limitations.
