So far I have had two sets of safety collars. The first had broken latches that failed within a couple of weeks. The other was made of some sort of rubber band and both of my cats hated it. They rotted and cracked within a few weeks. One day I tripped over one of my cats and he had his mouth wide open and he was just looking at me. I approached him and found that he managed to get the collar between his jaws, which didn't surprise me as they both started licking their collars very hard a few seconds after they put them on. As far as I know, he could be like that for an hour. Can you imagine what is happening to you? What you do not want? Neither do I. >: (That's why I hate "safety collars". They reek of the modern "let's change everything because there's a 1/100,000 chance something will go wrong". I've finally come to my senses and got a pair of these cats ordered didn't like my collars at first, probably because they associated collars with endless physical discomfort, but they made no attempts to take off their leather collars and - here's the key - they hardly noticed they were snug enough not to chafe on the cat's neck, and there are no man-made fibers to cause itching (I think that might be part of the reason cats hated the old ones so much) of years, and for a reason: leather collars are made for this, they last for decades, not weeks , they don't expose the animal to additional misery, and - you understand - they actually stay, which means that if kosh ki are ever lost, they have to at least obvious name tags on their chips. In fact, if there's no collar if your cat gets lost and you REALLY, REALLY need your number around your neck, why have one in the first place? Do yourself and your pets a favour. Buy them leather collars. I don't care if you get one or the other. Just don't torment your animals with dull elastic garbage.
