Review on Enhanced Performance with Eemax HATB007240 Auto Booster: A Powerful Solution for Optimized Water Heating by Dee Fadaifar

Works fine for a while

I bought this Eemax HATB007240 from my local plumbing store on 09/01/2019 and it was installed by a licensed installer. I have a 50 gallon water heater which is more than enough for me and my wife, but when our kids and families come we need more hot water than a 50 gallon tank can provide. After installing it worked fine for a while. However, one morning in the first year, we turned on the faucet and the water was very hot. I went in and unplugged the unit, drained some hot water from the tank, plugged the unit back in and it worked fine. In hindsight I should have tried to contact Eemax to report this but as it worked I didn't. It was the same last weekend and the water was boiling hot but this time when I tried to turn it off the eemax's display was black. Also, after using the hot water in the tank I found that it cut power to the water heater so when that tank ran out we had no hot water. I tried contacting Eemax to see if there was a reset button and I was on hold for 35 minutes before finally giving up. I looked up the warranty information and found that there is only a 1 year warranty. I had to call a plumber who explained that the unit was not working. He removed the device so we could get the water heater working. Because of this unit we were about 3 days without hot water. It has been little used as we only occasionally have a lot of people. I expected a $300+ booster to last longer with minimal use. It worked fine for a while but I am very disappointed with the product's durability and short warranty. I emailed the company with the above review and they emailed back the next day. They stated that since the product is out of warranty I basically had to call a plumber, plug the unit back in and then have the plumber call their tech support (same number I had been waiting 35 days for). minutes and didn't speak to anyone) and they walked the plumber through diagnosing the unit and once they could identify which parts were bad they sold me replacement parts to fix. Of course, this would mean spending more money on labor and parts than a new device would cost.
