Review on Calphalon 2106488 Touch Countertop Silver by Sean Chase

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In general very satisfied.

I considered this oven and the Breville Smart Pro Countertop Oven (which was surprisingly cheaper, albeit marginally) and ended up choosing for two reasons Decided on Calphalon: First, I had a cat sitting on top of the microwave in the kitchen to watch the dog eat, and I was afraid he would jump on the stove using it and get bad burns. The cool touch function in this oven convinced me. Secondly, I bake bread all year round and in the summer my gas stove really heats up my kitchen. When I saw the step-by-step proofing/baking cooking feature, I was completely sold out and ordered it (and yes, a 9x5 loaf pan with a rim on both ends fits easily in this oven). Another big plus was the interior lighting. Not many of these countertop ovens come with one, but it's important to be able to control the cooking process without opening the door and venting the heat. The workmanship just screams quality. The finish is beautiful and the Calphalon logo on the (very durable) handle as well as on the top of the device is a testament to the attention to detail. The door opens and closes smoothly without rattling or rattling. The supplied accessories also appear to be of high quality. And it looks sleek in my kitchen, not the crappy old toasters ever. I have it on a finished wooden kitchen island with a thick silicon mat underneath to keep the wood from burning. It warms up quickly and all functions work well. Incidentally, I cooked fries in it using a dehydrator and a turbo convection oven, and the potatoes came out crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the outside. Inside. It actually works better than my deep fryer, although of course I wouldn't put anything in that basket like wings. But for fries it's great. If I have little things, this is a totally inadequate instruction manual that is included. It's more of a pamphlet than an actual instruction manual, and the (one page) closely written text that makes up the actual instruction manual for this pamphlet says that you should go to their website if you need more instruction manuals. Serious? It doesn't even cover one of the unique and important features advertised on this oven, the step by step cooking function, and should I be poking around the Calphalon website to find that information? It is unacceptable to force the consumer to look for instructions that should be placed on the stove. I need a complete manual, not this cheap pamphlet. Kalfalon, do better.
