I have only had 3 straighteners in my life. My first was poop. My hair kept getting stuck in the gaps between the plates and the heat took forever, so I thought I'd found something really special when I got my first Remington (purple) straightener. It was thin, perfectly straightened, heated up quickly, no more hair pulled. I had this straightener for 8 years. The power button died a month ago. I got this one thinking it would be the same as my old one. I think it's a sign of getting old that I can't imagine the progress that technology has made in 8 years. This straightener straightens my hair very quickly. The sliding power button means it won't die like my last Remington and the heat settings are much easier to control. I LOVE this hair straightener. Oh, and steaming my wet hair in seconds to dry it is basically black magic. I'm so glad this line of products continues to exceed my imagination. This product made me realize how much tougher my old one was - and that's the mark of a really great investment.
