I ordered this device and a flash drive style SD card reader. Although this one is almost double the price of the Thumb Reader, it's worth it in my opinion. It has (4) USB 2 / Micro USB, Lightning and Type 3 ports. The main body appears to be made of metal. It is light in weight. Doesn't look cheap. The $7 thumb-style SD card reader features USB + Micro and Type 3. It also feels like quality for the price, and if you want a cheap direct SD reader I'd pick this device for the extra features that you get, nevertheless consider. Two big features worth getting are the Trail Camera Viewer SD card reader: The micro SD card reader slot is spring-loaded and latches. Getting in and out of the reader is very easy. The best choice for those who are outdoors and the locking mechanism prevents your media from being lost accidentally. Another great benefit is that it can be used to view media on an SD card by making the right connection to your phone. You need the NewFlash app. I ran a test on my iPhone 7 by plugging in the lightning connector with the card installed and my phone immediately asked if I wanted to get an app from the app store. Clicked, downloaded and installed in seconds. Simple user friendly interface and it worked great. Very useful for production. Been waiting for something like this for a long time. Now it's so easy to see what's on my SD cards! Great reliable solution. 5 Stars. Let's see how long this lasts.
