When it works, it works very well! I usually use big blocks of ice and this helps turn big cubes into smaller pieces when they don't fit in a glass. Also great for drinks that call for crushed ice. Works way better than just a bar spoon because it's flexible and really cuts through ice. As other users have reported, mine broke on first use. One of the small metal disks jumped out immediately, but comes back again very easily. This happens almost every time I use it. Definitely disappointing but not too bad if you only have a few drinks per session. If you are planning a large number of drinks - parties, bars, events - this is not for you.
