Review on 🐾 Revolutionize Pet Access with the High Tech Pet Power Pet Electronic Pet Door by Marisa Lynn

Amazing dog door, needs improvement 2019

Let me start by saying this is the best dog door, electronic or not. However, this product has some flaws and I hope there will be an update to bring back the 'high tech' moniker. Prior to purchasing this dog door, I purchased a $350 PetSafe pet door with a telescoping tunnel. The moment I opened the package, I knew I had just bought a whole piece of junk. Upon further inspection of the door, I only felt more ashamed of the purchase and the fact that the company was able to pass it off as a quality product. I was considering a high tech pet door but was concerned it would be too big. so I don't get mad when I look at it. However, since I already bought the PetSafe POS, I ordered it for comparison purposes. I got the door and tested it with my dog, a 66 lb black lab, to see how it could be automated. I really liked it and was surprised by the durability of the product as well as the insulation the door offered. I decided to keep the high tech door and return the PetSafe door. However, the HT door is quite large. I modeled a cutout on the drywall and it had to overlap by 4.5 feet. And this is very noticeable as I was afraid it would look like an eyesore in my dining room that leads to the backyard. However, after talking to friends and a handyman, we figured we could sink the dog door into the drywall and mount the unit almost flush. We could then paint over it to match the wall and hide the noticeable color difference. I'm happy to report that this worked very well and I highly encourage you to do so. Looks great and works! This product has flaws… #1. The device must be connected to the home WiFi network. Then you access functions via a mobile application: lock / unlock indoor and outdoor; Open/Close #2: Change the case design to allow the device to be fully recessed/flush mount into drywall. The enclosure must fit completely within the supporting wall studs. #3. An uninterruptible power supply runs through the wall to the back of the outlet, eliminating the need for additional door battery backup. # 4. Quieter open/close motor; There's nothing quite like hearing your dog walk upstairs from the floor at 2am. #5. The durability of the collar is bullshit. More than 2 times the battery/front case has popped out due to my dog scratching it. It should be WAAAAY more durable.
