Review on Optimize Your Video Shooting with Magnus VT-350 Video Tripod and Fluid Head by Shawn Jimenez

Excellent quality and reliable moving head tripod for the price!

I used to have to buy several moving head tripods over 72 inches, but this Magnus VT-350 fits my Canon XA20 camcorder perfectly. Ironically, their manual even shows a Canon XA-series camcorder for illustration. I needed a tripod that was lighter but strong enough than my Sanford & Davis professional HD tripod and better built than my regular tripod. It's easy to carry your camera to trade shows or on location without breaking with HD pro tripods. But it really depends on the weight of your HD camcorder. If your camcorder weighs 15 pounds or more, you need a heavier tripod. Of course Magnus or Sandford & Davis also have them. The bi-directional pan and tilt movement is really smooth, just like the more expensive versions. The pan/tilt knobs are of good quality and work well. This tripod is taller than you really need, up to 82 inches, but it's always nice to have the extra height when capturing activity at the back of a class or presenting on elevated platforms. The camcorder mounting plate locking mechanism is very secure and easy to operate with a strong locking lever. The aluminum legs are very stable, but I don't have to extend them all the way for extra height every time. The leg extension locks are secure and very easy to use. The leg extension lock is easy to use and can be locked in any position by sliding it up or down the B-pillar. The spirit level is clearly visible and works well. The folding handle works well and the post is very stable when extended. I like the sturdy steel handle as it is covered in rubber, feels good and has plenty of room to attach it to the LANC remote handle. The carry case and adjustable shoulder strap are of excellent quality and should last a very long time. Overall good construction and excellent reliability for a mid-range moving head tripod. I am very satisfied after using it on several shoots for a month. Good workmanship and excellent durability for a mid-range moving head tripod.
