Review on 🚘 Enhanced Arestech 5.5" A8 OBD2 Windshield HUD: Display RPM, MPH, Fuel Consumption, Temperature & Speeding Warning by Robert Dickinson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This useful base unit

Tried this along with ACECAR's suggestion. This is a clear winner for several reasons. The speedometer and tachometer are slightly larger, but also faster - it can pull OBD-II data every 0.5s instead of 1.0s. ACECAR's proposal has a significant lag, making it virtually useless for monitoring city traffic speeds. Also, the ACECAR unit only visualizes 500 rpm increments, which together with the lag makes the tachometer completely unusable. By the time the ACECAR reading catches up, your engine RPM may go up or down by 2,000 rpm. This device reads RPM in 250rpm increments and updates much faster which together means it's really useful as a sensor at any speed. It doesn't have big lines like ACECAR; It shows fuel consumption, but in l/100km, which isn't particularly useful in the US. The only potentially useful aspect is that it shows you real-time savings so you can get a picture of your overall economy. It also has an on-board computer which is useful but again only in km so it's not useful in terms of your sat nav, maps on your phone, directions etc. Engine temperature in Celsius is also a useful display and may match your instrument cluster if you are in a European vehicle. Considering it's bigger and easier to read, it updates its readings faster, all the data it displays is useful (although the color scheme is a complete mess and it's only in metric/European units), a reasonable price, and ESPECIALLY given the For lack of better competitive offerings, this is a solid 4-5 stars as of June 2020. I decided to add this for all my cars that don't have a HUD. It's simple, easy and useful.
