My granddaughter is 20 months old so she is comfortable. She sat on it with some of her stuffed animals and took a nap on it. Your own seat is just the right size. we both love it That's exactly what I need. After assembly, there was a slight smell of plastic. The foam was wrapped in shrink wrap. So after assembling it, I left it stretched in the air for about a week. After that, I cover it with a lid, just in case. I don't smell it unless my face is close with no cover. It wasn't very strong initially, but much better once you take the time to let off the gas.
