Screen mirroring worked but no sound

I bought this to use for a video call or watch something from my iPad on my big screen TV but the first time I tried to use it was today for video calls and the picture is good but there is no volume. Unfortunately, this was outside of Revain's return window, so I have a device I'll probably never be able to use.
