I bought one of these for a small aquarium that I installed to keep some fish alive after tearing down an old aquarium. The stress of moving was killing the fish so I decided to demolish the small tank after about a week. When I did this I found that the water was quite warm as was the heater. The sides of the heater blistered and melted. still in the water! As you can see from the photo, the heater has melted and discolored. This can happen if you take one of these types of heaters out of the water and leave them on, but this has happened with a full tank. A little creepy. It might be worth looking elsewhere for something more reliable.
