Review on Rode SmartLav+ Black: Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for iPhones and Smartphones - Premium Sound Capture by Lorenzo Wood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Yes. Unreal audio recordings from a mobile phone.

This microphone is fake. Whether you're recording voiceovers for videos, podcasts, or anything else, you can get quality work done on your mobile phone, tablet, laptop, or possibly any other device you use to record audio. I was a bit skeptical because I thought there might be multiple weak points in my cellphone audio recording system, not just the microphone. It turns out that the rest of the audio recording pipeline on my phone is pretty reliable, so using this mic makes a significant difference to my phone. And it takes great pictures on my PC too. If you shoot videos or record podcasts (especially on the go), I can't wholeheartedly recommend this mic. I should have bought it a long time ago. It is very important. You can honestly only record with this microphone on your mobile phone with any recording application in a quiet environment and get good results. If you're comfortable with basic audio editing and using very basic VST plugins, get Audified's TNT Voice Executor plugin and you'll get results so good that the vast majority of people (non-audio professionals) will use your thorough voice-over/audio . I added a few bucks of insurance, and I will keep the mic in the "leather case" that came with the package, so I'm hoping to have plenty of it. I will update this review as needed. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. The difference this mic makes is amazing. I haven't tried it for voice dictation yet but I'm sure it would be overkill as the weak mics I currently use are already giving me solid and reliable results. Conclusion: if you think about it, take it. You will not regret anything.
