Great for _some_ retro systems

I have used this converter to connect several vintage gaming systems, either direct or via two RCA switches in series. I will describe my results. Switchers work great with it, there is no obvious difference with or without it. The Sega Genesis is very impressive. Some fuzziness is to be expected. Genesis seems to recognize my settings and output it in widescreen! There are no distortions - circles are circles. The image fills the screen. Cool! Sega Dreamcast - No problem here. The video is as clear as possible over an RCA cable. At some point I might buy a VGA box, but that usually costs many times more than an HDMI converter. Super Nintendo. Unfortunately it was the worst batch. Stretched video, very blurry, even my colors are distorted. Of course, don't expect too much from these 16-bit systems, and I probably only have the SNES to blame. Of course, I would like the converter to handle colors better. I would give it a 4.5 if possible. Nintendo 64 - Not so bad. I use the same video cable as the SNES. Some games use an expansion pack to display higher resolution graphics and they usually have a widescreen option. For example Turok 2. Wikipedia (probably) has a list. Games that don't have this option are higher quality than SNES and look fine from a distance. There is a VGA box designed for Genesis, SNES as well as N64 and possibly other systems. I don't know if it works well or at all as it fits even more than a DC VGA box. PSX - damn it. I'm glad the PS2 is backwards compatible and I have a composite cable for it. The PSX output is stretched beyond repair, and the way those bumps turn into blur makes it hard to see. I might have to use a PSX for an imported game if I'm really desperate, but that's the only time I wouldn't use a PS2 instead. A bit sad. In general, a great converter for my purposes. 4.5 stars!
