Review on 🐢 Instinct Grain Free Dry Dog Food: Raw Coated & High Protein! by Vanessa Jones

) My dogs seem to like it, especially the freeze dried raw food toppers

The food itself has good reviews on various dog food review sites (e.g. Dog Food Advisor, a very reputable and unbiased nutrition platform). Reviews.) My dogs seem to like it, especially freeze dried raw food. However, my only complaint, and why I deducted two stars, is that there is little to no protein specificity, making it very difficult to meet the "restricted diet" requirements with Instinct foods. Beef version as stated on package, all types of red meat. However, when reading the ingredients, chicken fat is listed. One of my dogs (French bulldog) is allergic to chicken so this food is no longer available. Which is disappointing as I assumed the protein content of beef/red meat would not include chicken. I also noticed that the duck version has chicken meal in it; It's not that difficult since duck and chicken are both species of birds, but these dishes seem to include forms of salmon as well. I'm not sure if salmon is a common allergen, but I think it might exist. Mixing proteins seems counterintuitive for a brand that boasts the benefits of raw food, restricted diets and grain-free options that dogs with allergies typically need. So it's not clear why they included allergy triggers (usually chicken) in their non-chicken meals. Otherwise, Instinct should be a good option for some dogs, but the wide variety of proteins found in most of their food options means it's not a good fit for me.
