Works exactly as it should. It seems expensive, but the fast delivery justifies it. A NOTICE. The connection length increases by 15 mm. Slightly longer than fits in my case (drive bays side mounted) but as the connector is temporary until the cable is replaced this isn't a huge issue. These connectors are required because the new SAS drives are located as hot spares. After 4 are done I can change the controller cable (currently SFF-8087 SAS to 4x SATA Target) and these adapters with all SAS SFF-8087 to 4x SFF-8482 Target cable. Then continue with the next four.** IMPORTANT** YOUR COMPUTER MUST HAVE A CONTROLLER THAT CAN SUPPORT SAS DRIVES. Hybrid controllers such as Adaptec 6805, LSI 9260, etc. can support mixed SATA and SAS at the same time. SAS is considered an enterprise/server technology. I'm not aware of any desktop motherboard with an integrated SAS controller. Most server motherboards do not support either. SAS drives don't magically adapt to a standard SATA controller or USB-to-SATA adapter. I hope this information saves someone the trouble.
