I've used them with credit card style micro SD card holders.

These cases are too complex to insert and remove SD cards, especially micro SD cards, without damaging them. The material holding the cards is too hard, especially in the cold. Keeping micro SD cards in adapters makes them less likely to become damaged. They are only designed to store 8 SD cards or 8 micro SD cards and 8 SD cards or 16 micro SD cards when you plug 8 into the SD adapters. I removed the inserts holding the cards and used a sleeve to store 4 credit card type micro SD card holders that hold 10 cards each to better protect them and I can keep 40 cards handy.
