Review on Readaeer Bookrest and Document Holder for Enhanced Reading Experience by Timothy Barnes

Not suitable for many types of books or papers

The stand is suitable for textbooks with at least 1000 pages that open flat (like most). However, with paperback and hardcover books, the plastic pins are not strong enough to hold the book in place, at best, one of the pages becomes very wavy and difficult to read, especially towards the beginning and end of the book. The reader's lip is just over 1 1/2 inches, allowing it to fit most books, but not very thick books. The construction is decent. The back and stand used to set the stand up are metal, while the rest of the stand is made from high-quality plastic with mostly rounded edges, although the rounded front that holds the plastic pins shows signs of mold. The pins are strong and have enough tension to hold many types of books, but as mentioned, not hardbound books. It seems unlikely that they will break under normal use. The metal back cover has a semi-matte finish that easily reveals fingerprints. They can be washed off with soap and water, but are uncomfortable to do or live with. This is a design flaw. Another limitation is that the stand isn't tall enough to serve as a copy stand for papers - they just fold back. Finding a notebook or book to put the papers under is inconvenient, as is purchasing a separate copy stand. If you're looking for a copy stand that can hold all types of books and papers, has enough space, doesn't need the stand to be portable, uses it frequently, and are willing to spend more, I'd recommend a larger, heavier stand. There are many better options for tablets and phones. For occasional use with the right books, the stand is just what you need.
