Review on πŸ”Œ Samsung Full Size Keyboard Dock Cradle for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus - Enhanced Typing Experience with Retail Packaging by Jeff Grindley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The wait was worth it.

This was the purchase I originally intended to make when I first bought the Samsung Tab 7.0 Plus a few years ago. I didn't make that purchase at the time because I felt the price Samsung was asking was just too high. Well, good things come to those who wait. I recently picked up a new Samsung keyboard in the box. The same model I wanted years ago, only this time it cost a little over $10 with shipping. I have to say I really like the keyboard. This allows me to use the tablet while sitting at my desk or even while sitting on the couch. Plenty of buttons save you the trouble of leaving fingerprints all over the screen. It's very good for typing (I type and read a lot). One thing I don't understand is that there is no way to turn on the tablet using the keyboard. You can charge both the tablet and the keyboard with the original tablet cable and power bank. When the tablet is on and you press any key, it wakes up. You can even (if you have the patience) navigate through the on-screen icons (but it's easier to just tap on the app you want). One of the things that surprised me is that the tablet's built-in volume control behaves strangely with some apps, but the keyboard has buttons for screen brightness and volume/mute, both of which work very well with the tablet. The Tab 7.0 Plus is long out of date, and it's certainly not a powerful motor, but I've used it enough to replace the original lithium battery in it, and I still use it daily for reading, looking up, saving schematics for things, about that I work on, etc. The keyboard has only added to its usefulness and usefulness. If you have one of those old but really good Samsung tablets and you can still find a $10 keyboard, I recommend buying it. By the way, if you're wandering around, this keyboard only fits the Tab 7.0 Plus. The Tab 10, which was current at the time, used the same keyboard, but Samsung used a different mounting plate for the tablet itself. Both tablets use the same power plug/cable, but I doubt you'll be able to find a suitable mounting plate anywhere to replace the one on this keyboard. Instead, look for a new keyboard for the Tab 10.

Pros
  • Compatible with Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. (Galaxy Tab unit NOT included)
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
