After reading a lot of good reviews I went to my shop today to check if I'm using the tool correctly. To test it again I 1. used another piece of 1/8" aluminum and it was still very hard so I pulled the mandrel out part way and tried again and it was a little easier. Then I post and screwed in after the mandrel. The crimped part of the rivet is in the middle of the aluminum so it's difficult to flare. Guilty. Obviously rivets don't work well with thick material. 2. Used a thinner piece of sheet metal and the tool worked fine. It seems to me that very little leverage is used in the beginning but mostly brute force is used.I was very disappointed. The closer the levers get to the center the better the levers.I think this should be done in such a way that the lever at the Maximum starts and then the instrument gradually adjusts.I used SS nuts, that may have been part of the problem.
