Spotted signal. Far from advertised distance

This is a good product. This works for me 95% of the time, but doesn't come close to the advertised distance. I bought this to transmit the signal from outside to the TV I have in the gazebo. The pavilion is literally on the other side of the wall where I placed the transmitter. There are no obstructions other than a regular wall (brick, plaster, metal or similar. Just regular wood/drywall) and the receiver is about 7 feet from the transmitter through the wall. Initially I placed the receiver on the opposite side of my gazebo (nearly 20 feet from the transmitter) and the signal was uneven. The device kept losing either sound or video, or all signal (requiring a reboot of the receiver). I moved the receiver back to the side closer to the wall (7 feet) and the signal seemed to improve, but the signal still dropped out at times. The device was bought to carry my cable signal (Xfinity/Comcast) and thanks to a review here I learned a trick: When it comes to streaming LIVE TV, this device just can't keep up for some reason. Every few minutes or so the screen would dim (or go silent), then eventually catch up and play again. However, if you press PAUSE on your DVR for a few seconds and then hit the play button, things get a lot better. Essentially you are playing video from your DVR device, not a live TV signal, and for some reason this device does a better job using this method. Overall, this block is just "OK" and works most of the time. However, when soccer season starts and I have guests and this thing resets the signal at key moments, I can just smash it with a hammer.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
