Review on Surface Charger Adapter from Microsoft by John Wei
Both the 120V cable and the LV cable are shorter than they should be.
The 120 volt power cord is very short, requiring the transformer to be on the floor. it is literally 24 inches long. How about a 36" or 48" power cord. The low voltage cable should be shorter than I would prefer.
