The quality is much better than I expected. This is the perfect size for my small 9 lb cat to rest in. She is older and I wanted something small to carry her in my car when I'm away from home for a few days as I don't leave her alone like I used to. after some health problems. I have a small bed that I put in and cover the stretcher with a blanket to keep it snug so she can use it as a resting place when we're not out. I only removed the door for easier access. She seemed to like it very much and immediately went inside. I know some reviews have mentioned not liking that there are latches to keep the door closed, but I really like this feature. It seems strong to me and I wouldn't worry too much if they are opened. My cat is also quite soft so someone with a more active cat might have issues with them but they seem to be staying on pretty well. The same goes for the top that opens. I thought I might worry about it falling apart and causing me to drop the stretcher, but it feels solid as all the pieces fit together. Overall very happy with this purchase.
