The look of the cactus alone was worth the money and as far as actual use as a scratching post goes, my 1.5 year old cat loves it. My 3.5 year old doesn't want anything to do with this but I expected that as he's not a fan of the new things I'm bringing into my house. Maybe he'll get used to it over time. It is made of high quality sisal and is very durable. My 1.5 year old looks like a spider monkey and is very active. She hadn't even come close to knocking him over. Exact Measurements: 42.5 inches tall, arm to arm 22.5 inches wide. I held off buying it at first because it's a bit pricey, but I'm glad I finally bought it. I plan to buy a smaller cactus and one that looks like a round cactus in a pot but to be honest I like it. I think it's a really cool home decor even if they don't use it (but I think Chloe will as she likes it big). And I can't have live plants in my house as they both destroy any plant I try to bring. This is how I get the look of the plant. All other round scratching poles crumbled with use. This one has held up so far, but I suspect it will fall apart over time. But that's what scratching posts do! They don't last forever! My cats are also outdoor roamers (during the day when I'm gardening and you should be able to see the underside of my tree trunks. They're all quite shredded so if the perch can withstand this kind of use then it must be a quality product!
