Finding a new monitor is not an easy task. LG alone makes dozens of models in 4K and 5K that look like worthy candidates to us 13-inch MacBook Pro users. However, this is my "first impression" rating. I will be back in 3 months to add or update anything. The first 27 inches is just right for me as a seasoned graphic designer/illustrator and occasionally an animator and videographer. 5K offers the same viewing window as you would expect from a 34-inch 4K. 5K BTW is like looking out the window. You just don't see the pixels. The setting is almost reliable. This monitor is attached to a stand. You plug the power cord and in my case the cable from one of my USB 3C ports into the Thunderbolt port on the monitor and press the power button. Quickly set up monitor placement on Mac and get started. What do I need this monitor for? First and foremost, the ability to read toolbars and menus in a variety of creative applications that I use. If I was just doing word processing or even spreadsheets, I doubt I'd need the kind of visual performance that 5k offers.
