Review on ๐Ÿธ Modern Grey Corner Bar Unit for Stylish Home Entertainment by David Herman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Solid and nice for the money but how cool to come here!

This unit is reliable and well made above average for a do-it-yourself deal. It looks great in our corner and has a surprising amount of storage space. However, there were some bumps in the "Get it here" part. When the package arrived, I expected it to be a large, solid box with a padded wall between the box and the parts inside; What I received was a not-so-large box with all corners crumpled and *split* pieces of mahogany-finish chipboard and fiberboard that appeared to be packed back-to-back with cardboard showing through the grooves. Needless to say, the first one I've sent back. The second time I received the box I was now expecting, with the corners still crushed. This time I was desperate because we would be having guests in a few days so I decided to unpack it and see if there were any broken boards sticking out on less visible parts of the unit. I opened the box and was immediately covered from head to toe in shredded styrofoam packing sheets. It took me over an hour to get all the pieces out and remove the styrofoam from the pieces, floor, me and ceiling. When I did that I found I wasn't sure if I wanted to kiss or kill the person responsible for the packaging at Home Source because I found all the parts were completely intact but the mahogany planks on the outside of the box were actually sacrificial packaging materials, not parts of the device. I was happy to receive my undamaged product but a bit disappointed in the lost weekend on the one I sent back! I also think I've developed an allergy to styrofoam due to the heavy exposure. Otherwise, be prepared for a somewhat complicated build process. There were over 25 structural elements and *bags* of gear marked with the letters AZ. There was also a building guide with about two sentences of text, none of which was even remotely clear (something about "the most important use of a dowel, I think?), and 14 steps of six steps each. Despite the complexity, this is a relatively simple process, so photos usually suffice. Important Notes: 1) Get your own wood glue for the "key dowels" as the one tube you receive will run out less than halfway. 2) *NOT* lose hardware because there are *NO* extras *NOT*. I spent 20 minutes sifting through the trash looking for a few screws that had rolled out of one of 26 bags of gear onto my trash pile. Overall, I'm quite happy with the result, no matter how tedious the process was. was!
