Review on Explore the Power and Precision of the Husqvarna Viking Jade 20 Sewing Machine by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great mobile machine and good companion for my Husqvarna Viking Designer EPIC & Diamond

This machine was out of stock when I searched but I was able to find it for sale (Joanne's) during the pandemic in mid May and got the deal just don't refuse. It just arrived this week and I finally unpacked it today. I wanted an affordable, versatile machine that could be used as a portable sewing machine when I'm not at home, e.g. B. working on a project at my mom's or a friend's house, in quilting classes or showing others how to make B. making a face mask, faces with a filter bag, etc. I liked the stylish way how this Jade 20 was packaged without a separate carry case or pouch. I don't need another sewing machine that can embroider or I would buy one, but I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get into machine embroidery but is on a budget. and you absolutely don't have to buy the expensive Viking software that many of us have. You can use almost any embroidery software on the market that fits your budget (e.g. Embird, SewWrite, SewArt, SewWhat Pro, Wilcom Hatch, etc.). The Husqvarna Viking website also has a free embroidery program which, although limited, is still a pretty good program. Husqvarna Vikings have always been my favorite ever since I got my first car (an old 5710) as a teenager in 1980. Viking Burgundy). Years later I switched to my current Husqvarna Viking Diamond sewing and embroidery machine. All my Vikings were made in Sweden prior to this Jade 20 (made in Thailand) so I'm curious to see how the quality compares. So far it seems comparable. The Jade is definitely lighter than my old Vikings and also the Viking Diamond which makes it perfect for portability. the main reason I bought it. I still have a few older 6000 series Vikings which are mostly metal and quite heavy. I don't really like carrying them around, but they come in handy for teaching others how to sew or lending someone I know a sewing machine. Today I worked through many stitches on the Jade 20, including decorative and backstitches, as well as bobbin winding and got used to the general basic pattern and so far I'm very impressed! Sure, the Jade 20 doesn't have all the bells and whistles I don't expect from it (like embroidery, automatic sewing foot lift, touchscreen, automatic tensioning, etc.), but the Jade 20 is a great budget alternative with all the features needed by those will sew without breaking the bank. As for other reviews that the needle is difficult to thread and the presser foot area is narrow, this confuses me because it doesn't seem any different from my Viking Diamond. The needle threader works well, if not as smoothly as on my Diamond, but it certainly works efficiently. However, you must ensure that the needle is raised to its highest position, otherwise the needle threader will not align with the eye of the needle. In other words, the needle threader doesn't stay in line with how high or low the needle is - the position of the needle threader is stationary up and down and only works when the needle is in its highest position. This is the same normal process as other needle threader machines. From what I've seen so far, using the Jade 20 personally and watching Sarah's YouTube videos at Heirloom Creations, I would say it's excellent value for money. point.UPDATE September 2020: My relative loved this Jade 20 as she used mine during a face mask sewing class I was teaching but she really couldn't afford to buy it, so i gave her mine and she loves it. !As for me, I still needed a portable sewing machine, so right after I gave away my Jade 20, I stumbled across a practically unused Jade 35, which is quite similar to the Jade 20 except it also embroiders. Three months later I came across another great offer, but this time for an almost unused Viking EPIC, so my Viking Diamond is now my second sewing and embroidery machine and the Jade 35 is my portable machine. My relative still loves her Jade 20.
