Update November 2019: Verbatim has recently been sold. Over the past two years, like others, I have encountered quality issues as they transacted the business model. They're still better than most major brands, but not quite as good as before. I currently use and recommend the Falcon Premium DVD-R. Not Pro, not Dupliline, not Basic. Make sure you buy the premium line. I've had amazing results with Falcon brand discs. They cost a little more money but they are worth it. Falcon is probably the last company to make high quality optical discs. They are just as good as the old Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden CDs. Old Review: These are the best DVD+R discs. The quality is still top. The accuracy, reflectivity, compatibility and durability of these discs are unmatched. I've only had a few bad discs over the years. These days they all seem to be made in a factory in Taiwan, which is by far the highest quality optical media factory in the world. I haven't had a stand for several years. I have many of these discs that are 11-14 years old and hardly deteriorate. Everyone plays well. All scans are either the same as when they were made or with a very, very small increase in fully correctable errors. In fact, they scan better than most other manufacturers' discs when they're brand new, and I expect them to last decades longer. Just make sure you keep them indoors, away from light, near a heat source or a fan. Don't worry about the high price of M-Disc and Gold-Disc (both have compatibility issues), these discs last a long time. Make sure your DVD drive is not worn out. I've found that the biggest problem over the years is using the burner for too long. I made the mistake of thinking I had bad drives when in fact my drive was outdated and not burning properly. DVD drive lasers wear out over time and I've found this to be as big an issue as disc quality when producing quality discs. I've always found DVD+R better than -R, although some argue there's no difference. +R fixes more bugs and has fewer issues in my experience. Also buy these branded products, not 8x Datalife Plus. They are made in China at a lower capacity and Verbatim has historically made 16x media of much better quality than 8x media. The only other disks that could be compared to them were Japanese-made Taiyo Yuden disks. Now that they have closed this company, Verbatim has no competitors.
