Review on πŸ›οΈ Dream On Me Violet Mini Crib in Black, Greenguard Gold Certified - Compact 42x25x36 Inch (Quantity: 1) by Jermaine Shuster

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Max mattress height two inches

We bought these in December 2019 for my ten month old baby. We have an older child who is over two years old and still slept in a tiny corner of his standard size crib and still loved to play with him when we travelled. So we were sure that the mini crib would work well and be perfect for our little kid's room. At first I was disappointed with the light feel of everything out of the box. I was hoping for something as durable as a standard bed. The side rails feel thinner and lighter. But the mattress topper is a solid panel and adds the necessary weight to make this piece of furniture secure. In some places the finish was not complete or perfect and there were also scratches, dents and chips. None of them were too noticeable on the 'natural' wood surface and I haven't noticed them since I assembled the crib. It looks beautiful in our space and I'm happy with it overall. BUT! I have a big complaint. Knowing that this would be a full-fledged bed for my child, hopefully for two years, I immediately decided to buy a mattress to match. To be honest the one it came with had all the features to work normally. It's very similar to the Pack and Play mattresses which, as I said, my two year old slept great on while traveling. But my eldest son doesn't sleep well and I knew that if my second child had problems, the first thing I would ask for was a mattress. And I knew I was going to spend about $1 billion to buy Revain at 2am in hopes of fixing my kid's sleep problems. So a good mattress right from the start. Problem: Nowhere in the Revain product description, on the Dream On Me website, or in any other product description that I have read, has it been stated that EACH MATTRESS USED WITH THIS CED IS MAXIMUM TWO INCHES IN HEIGHT. This is clearly stated in capital letters. on the outside of the packaging and is important information for buyers! I ordered a 5 inch mattress at the same time as the crib and was unable to return it. The reason for this limitation is immediately obvious – a taller mattress is unsafe because it lifts the child too close to the top of the rails and poses a risk of falling. Initially we could just use a lower setting since the height is adjustable. Now that my daughter is ten months old, the mattress is at its lowest height. Once it stands up (most babies can live up to ten months), it will be too high on the rails to be safe. Even as high as the 50th percentile, it's clear that it's going to be too high. Unfortunately, although my husband is quite nimble, I don't think we can accommodate the cot by drilling new, lower holes to lower the mattress due to the way the mattress support board is attached and the position of the hinges and additional precautions. drilled holes only used for configurations other than cots (see my photos). There is a risk of pinching between the top of the mattress and the bottom of the slats, especially if the horizontal slats are bent. Not to mention that customizing a crib frame is inherently unwise as it hasn't been safety tested. So if my baby starts to stand up every day, I'll either have to throw away the good mattress I bought and put a thin one on top (my baby will probably be angry about that as he's used to a much better standard). or leave this crib. It's a shame because both were the same price. Definitely could have been avoided if the product description had the right information.
