The cover is very thick and has 2 different textures, which I really like. I turn it more than I thought. I like that I bought the cover because it is quite easy to take off and put on depending on the weight of the duvet purchased. I love that it has drawstrings to keep the duvet covered. I also plan to get a mattress cover and drill small holes in the corners to thread the zip ties through so it has double protection. I have cats that throw up hairballs from time to time and I don't want to be lugging a weighted blanket to the dry cleaners all the time. This way the duvet is also protected by the mattress cover and does not go through the weighted duvet. But if you're buying a weighted blanket with or without pets, get a blanket! You won't regret textures or extra protection!
