Yes, this is the beginner level RC car for the hobbyist level, but it also has some features that are above standard. You are able to adjust the throttle sensor so that you can govern the speed to help you learn to control the car. Although, I would say that this car is a bit finicky about reverse. It is supposed to work such as you hit reverse once which is for braking and then a second time for reverse. Often times you have to wait, and re-hit reverse a few times to get it to reverse. In fact, at the lowest servo level for the throttle, this car would not go into reverse at all, so you have to be operating at the faster speed to get it to engage. However, I didn't mind it that much since I am accustomed to fast RC cars, but it may be an issue with an inpatient little one. A benefit to this package is that the controller also has 2 separate servo adjustments for the front wheels so you can adjust it for true. Out of the box, this car was already set pretty straight. I have other packages that came with 2 batteries for the car and batteries for the controller. This package only came with one battery for the car and 0 batteries for the controller. At this price, they could have / should have thrown in some cheap AA batteries for the controller. Overall, all, this is a decent set up that is fairly easy to control, but like most cars at this small scale, they get squirrely pretty quickly the faster you go. Have fun. Hope that helps you today.
