The inner plastic layer is coming off, apparently I drank plastic

I really liked the bottle for the first month. The lid didn't leak much, just occasionally. The lock works really well. Then one day I noticed something was swimming in my water. I couldn't figure out what it was until I took a closer look at the bottle myself, I noticed the inner plastic layer was peeling off and obviously I was drinking plastic. Hooray. So if you want to drink plastic, buy it. Also, I should add that I have always hand washed it, never in the dishwasher.
