This is a great idea, almost perfect execution. I always struggle to cut the liner to the right size, especially for drawers. I stopped buying sticky materials altogether because they inevitably ended up crooked. It's heavy enough to stay in place without glue, and the ribs add texture and ventilation. However, I think the burrs are the reason it tears much easier in that direction than sideways. So if you break a spine against the fibers, it will also break the other way unless you're VERY careful. You either have to start over or live with what was driving you crazy. I like that it doesn't tear easily so it doesn't tear when it's in place but I even ripped it the second time I found out it was a problem so next time I will maybe attach painter's tape or something similar. to hold it in place while I rip the other side. Being able to pull out the little notches for the corners of the shelf will really tip OCD in your favor.
