Great firewall server

I'm using it as a firewall with Fedora 33. I'm testing the CentOS 8 installed first to make sure it works - works - but I need better firewall management tools so I'm using it instead with Fedora. To do this, I first updated Windows to the latest update level and then replaced the supplied NVME m.2 (512 GB Kingston) disk with a 1 GB Samsung 860 EVO. Windows was updated flawlessly, quickly and quickly. On both Windows and Linux I've used a USB 3.1 2.5GB network key and checked how it behaves; it worked flawlessly in both environments. This is important in my application as the box comes with two wired 1Gb Ethernet ports and I need a third as I run two internal (LAN) networks and one external (WAN) network. Unfortunately the AX200 Wifi 6 adapter doesn't have good Linux drivers and was quite slow; There is no harm in using this device as a standard Linux distribution firewall, since such firewalls usually do not serve as a wireless access point and do not require a wireless connection to another server. However, the device was incredibly fast on Windows 10. So if you just want to use Windows, this box is some really powerful stuff. Connected to my Wattwatch, this thing runs at about 45 watts - the server it replaces. slower and runs at 110 watts. I can feel a little heat when the fan runs under the case and its noise is very quiet and unobtrusive - I have to be within 3 feet of it to even hear it a little. Keep in mind that the Ryzen 5 3550H has already been replaced, so this is the "latest generation" and is therefore sold at a lower price.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
