When I first started playing with it, I texted my daughter about these Tile Pros and actually typed out the phrase "Oh, joyful joy!" when I found out about the integration with Alexa - more on that later. But that should give you an idea of my take on these sleek little devices. Background: This is my first time using tiles. I knew her in the past and was a little curious. If someone bought me one I'd be happy, but I haven't spent any money. It probably had something to do with the cost. Older Tile models are slightly cheaper than these newer Pro Tiles, but come at a steep price: the battery isn't replaceable, meaning you'll have to replace the tile itself every year or so. The company has a program where you can get a replacement at a discount, but it's still too cool for me. However, these Pros have a standard removable battery. Now I'm wondering. The Pro also offers much more range than previous models, 300 feet versus 150 feet or less on others. This pair of Pro Tiles come in a nice little box with a rail that looks intimidatingly thick at first. No fear; Minimum guidelines are only translated into a number of languages. Laying tiles is very easy. You basically download the free Tile app and follow a few instructions and you're spot on. It couldn't be easier. Before playing with these pros I wasn't 100% sure how they work. In particular, I didn't know if you need to connect it to your phone to find your phone. And you might be wondering the same thing: but no, you don't know. In fact, each tile really does double duty. You attach it to what you don't want to lose, say your keys, and then you can use the Tile app on your phone to find it. But if you can't find your phone, you can double-tap the single tile button and your phone will ring even if it's off. What if you lose both the keys and the phone? Well, if you're home, there's a solution. Here the joy begins. If you have Alexa, you can turn on the "Tile" skill. Then just ask Alexa to ask Tile where your phone or keys are. Light. Seamless. Elegant negative? Now these babies seem to only be sold in pairs. I would like to be able to use separate packages in the future. Otherwise everything is good. Unless the thing inexplicably fails, I'm convinced. They would also make great gifts (especially if singles were available). Maybe add them to your Festivus wish list.
