Pretty cool but obviously for smaller projects

I did two tests, one with a Canon 70D with 24-105L and one with a Go Pro. Watch the attached video for both tests. The Canon 70D at 105mm was almost at the maximum of this thing and when I pointed the lens down it tilted. So if you're using a heavy DSLR with a medium-sized lens, this might not be enough for you. For a GoPro that was of course normal. It comes with an attachment that allows you to attach the camera directly to it or to the ball head. But remember, the more things you put on it, the more likely it is to tip over if you put a lot of weight on it. Overall it's decent and the remote control is awesome. But at first I thought there were two smaller knobs for speed, one up and one down. But one is to change direction and the other is to change speed. Labels would be cool. The LEDs are very bright and beautiful. You definitely need to place it on a flat surface or, as the instructions suggest, on a rail. In my first video, zoomed in to 105mm, you can see that the video jumps around a bit even though it's on a flat surface. I attribute it to the fact that this thing is probably at max weight and about to tip over. I muted my video but be careful, my 70D's mic picked up the engine with no problem and it was loud. Whatever video you record, you definitely need to mute it and put audio over it.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model
