It works great, looks good, no tools, compact. The speed tests are consistent with my same drive tested when in a different case. A unique slide latch holds the circuit board securely in place while the case cover slides into the rails on the side and a latch keeps it securely closed. Despite answering the question about thermal padding, my case didn't have any. Although it's a beautiful metal shell, there's nothing but air to carry heat to the lid. Although the lid stays on the clasp well, there is nothing preventing the button that activates the clasp from being pressed by something in your bag or briefcase/backpack. When I ran a longer stress test, the case peaked at 107F, so warm but without the included fire warning sticker. While it's reasonably priced, it feels and looks overpriced. ($40 at the time of this review.) Nice, feature-rich drive, but not quite the premium product the price suggests.
