This is not a clamshell case. That means the keyboard is a half-shell for protection. The iPad itself makes up the other half of the clamshell. This suggests it works well enough for me. The keyboard has adequate backlighting, works well with Bluetooth, and appears to have decent battery life. It uses two soft clamps to hold the iPad in place, allowing the iPad to be opened for use. Seems strong enough.
