Complete disappointment.

This is my third Crane2. The first collapsed on the plane. my fault I still have the second one, he's two years old. It has trouble keeping the horizon level, but other than that it still works. I bought this 8 months ago as a backup and only recently opened it. first mistake. It seems that the newer Crane2 models are coming with a firmware update that changes the action of the mode button. Now a press of PF to L takes you to F and then repeats. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM as the old firmware took you from PF to L and then back to PF. Why is it important? Because when the gimble goes into F (follow mode) you immediately lose the tilt position and if 95% of your footage stays in the same tilt position as mine when shooting professional real estate videos it's a huge waste of time. I take the shot at L and then usually switch to PF as I move to the next frame. I line up my shot in PF, press L to block and shoot. Then I repeat. Easy! Now. I take a picture in L, press mode and it goes to F, which instantly tilts the camera up or down. I position and move to PF, now I need to realign the tilt axis, change position, press L to take the picture. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a huge waste of time. It all seems so. Gimble now rotates in flashlight mode. lame. I'm still trying to figure out how to roll back gimble to old firmware. But it might not matter since I can't get my iMac to recognize it. So even if I find an old firmware, I can't install it. email support? yes i tried I received a reply confirming that the new firmware makes the mode button work differently. When I replied my email was rejected and I got a message saying it was marked as spam and I should try to call the person I was trying to email. in China. from the USA. So yeah, I'm done with Zhiyun. By the way, I bought Crane2S a few months ago. I was very interested and excited to use the vertical portrait mode it offers. Incredibly, the mode button behaves exactly like my old Crane2, which is great, but it's missing a key feature. This prevents you from moving the camera by hand. To do this, you need to use a very slow joystick. Again, this is a big problem with my workflow because every time I take a picture that needs the camera to face up or down, I always move it by hand. This way I can press the joystick to make very slow movements, which I also used to create parallax shots while shooting. When I want the joystick sensitivity to be very low, it takes a lot of time to get the camera in the right position when I'm taking a picture from an odd angle.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Hard to say

Gimbal works fine. Focus servo is very coarse and lags.
