I gave it four stars overall because I didn't like the slight roughness that much. However, I can say that due to the roughness, it is designed to avoid scratches. However, I'm not sure if users will ever get scratches on their trackpad. I may or may not remove the trackpad after a while just because it's not that smooth (or I'll just get used to it). Basically I got this trackpad cover to make sure the trackpad doesn't disappear over time like some trackpads do with constant use. I don't mind that the touchpad isn't smooth just because I don't use it as much as the trackpad. However, it's nice to know that the trackpad coating definitely prevents finger grease and scratches, and my trackpad is just as responsive as it was before I turned it on. He's doing his job. **Purchased for Macbook Pro 13 model A2251 (no Esc key on touchpad).
