The software was easy to download from the supplied CD. Easy to use. With a laptop, an external hard drive, and scanning at 600dpi, I was up and running in 10 minutes, scanning photos my mother took years before she died. I only give 4 stars because all the photos have a red cast. I can't figure out how to reduce the extra redness when scanning images, but I can use Photoshop to adjust the color so this isn't a deal breaker.
