We have several cats in the house with four trays and I have this rug underneath all of them. We have one cat in particular who, when the litter box doesn't meet her needs, pees right next to the litter box and tries to get where she needs to go without stepping on the litter box! I've tried various other garbage mats, but all I ended up with was pee under the mat and an even bigger mess to clean up. This pad saved us a lot of headaches as a result, as did the occasional mishap with hanging it on the side of the box. Retains urine, does not get wet, can be thrown in the laundry. Once a month I soak it in an enzymatic cleaner for fifteen minutes, then hose it down to remove any lingering odors. If after a wash they start looking shabby for $10 a piece, I can't complain about replacing the more used ones every few months. My only wish is that they either come in more colors or at least in an unprinted version. It would be nice if you could tailor it to your tray or decor a little better. In terms of functionality, it is perfect and I do not recommend it! I recommend the largest version if you want it to be really efficient.
